Quin has come into season a bit sooner than expected, having been pulled in early by both Willow and Siri who have recently finished their heats. We hope that the first breeding will take place around April 20th, which will put the due date around June 20th!

Quin and Bryn have now had 2 successful “romantic encounters” on April 20th and 22nd, and we will try for one more on the 24th. After that, we will have to wait a month until the pups are large enough to see on an ultrasound.

Delighted to announce that the litter has been confirmed! Quin’s vet found at least 7 puppies on the ultrasound yesterday, and believes there may be more. An x-ray to confirm the number will happen about a week before Quin is due. The waiting game continues…

Quin is getting to be quite the sausage, and has gained more than 10 lbs in the last 2 months. Her x-ray on Monday confirmed not just 7 pups, but 9! I have numbered off the little skulls in the x-ray below. Can’t wait to meet this little guys and girls!

The first pup was born at 11:10 am today, and the 9th pup was born at 2:25 pm… that’s all 9 pups in just over 3 hours! Quin had a nice quick and easy whelp, with all 9 pups born healthy, lively, and between 15-18 oz. The final tally: 4 black boys, 2 liver boys, 2 black girls, 1 liver girl.
